The Postdoctoral Association (PDA) at UT Southwestern recently selected Dr. Crandall for its 2021 Excellence in Postdoctoral Mentoring Award.

The everyday “extras” that can improve patient care do not go unnoticed, according to Courtney Dryden, PA-C, a Physician Assistant (PA) in the Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Bone Marrow Transplant/Hematologic Malignancies Clinic.

Dr. Guiyang Hao, Assistant Professor of Radiology, has been awarded a one-year, $100,000 Pilot Award from the Neuroendocrine Tumor Research Foundation (NETRF) to support his work exploring new nuclear imaging probes to detect neuroendocrine tumors.

Genaro Hernandez, Ph.D., a postdoctoral researcher in Cell and Molecular Biology and one of the inaugural Provost’s Initiative for Diverse Emerging Scholars (PROVIDES) in the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, has received a prestigious fellowship from the Life Sciences Research Foundation (LSRF).

In honor of his achievements, Dr. Cunningham has received the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists’ Luella Klein Lifetime Achievement Award, which recognizes an obstetrician and gynecologist who has dedicated his or her life in a significant way to women’s health.

The American College of Cardiology (ACC) has awarded the 2020 Distinguished Mentor Award to Dr. James de Lemos in honor of contributions to the cardiovasculr profession.

In 2018, Dr. Anastasia Bobilev, a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Psychiatry, began volunteering as a mentor for college-bound students of the Dallas Independent School District’s Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School. Rangel, located near Fair Park and the first public all-girls college preparatory school in Texas, was founded in 2004 by a public-private partnership between the DISD and the Young Women’s Preparatory Network (YWPN).

For Dr. Rachel Russo, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, effective teaching involves collaboration with students that not only imparts facts but also inspires a love of learning. “I think this is important in all areas, but particularly in the medical field where lifelong learning is a necessity,” she said.
