Dr. Joshua Mendell, Professor and Vice Chair of Molecular Biology, has been awarded a 2019 Memorial Sloan Kettering Paul Marks Prize for Cancer Research. The award honors promising scientists age 45 or younger.

Dr. Quinn Capers IV, Associate Dean for Faculty Diversity and Vice Chair for Diversity and Inclusion in the Department of Internal Medicine, has been elected to the Association of University Cardiologists (AUC), joining a dozen current UTSW faculty members in the invitation-only association of cardiology luminaries.

Dr. Thomas recently received the Association of Directors of Medical Student Education in Psychiatry (ADMSEP) Scholarly Publication Award for 2020 for her paper, titled “Recruitment of Black Men and Women Into Academic Psychiatry.” Though ADMSEP’s in-person 2020 meeting was canceled, she will be honored at a virtual awards ceremony on Feb. 24. Dr. Benjamin Levi, Associate Professor of Surgery, and Dr. Michael Shiloh, Associate Professor of Internal Medicine and Microbiology, have been inducted into the American Society for Clinical Investigation (ASCI), one of the most distinguished organizations in academic medicine. Its membership is limited to elite physician-scientists.

The Postdoctoral Association (PDA) at UT Southwestern recently selected Dr. Crandall for its 2021 Excellence in Postdoctoral Mentoring Award.

The American College of Cardiology (ACC) has awarded the 2020 Distinguished Mentor Award to Dr. James de Lemos in honor of contributions to the cardiovasculr profession.

In honor of his achievements, Dr. Cunningham has received the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists’ Luella Klein Lifetime Achievement Award, which recognizes an obstetrician and gynecologist who has dedicated his or her life in a significant way to women’s health.
