This introductory course in global health is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the key principles and challenges in global health today. The course examines critical global health topics such as humanitarian emergencies, refugee health, neglected tropical diseases, and non-communicable diseases. Students will also learn about the challenges faced in both local and global efforts to prevent and control health problems and gain insight into the health care systems in low- and middle-income countries.

We understand that recent news regarding student visa revocations and Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) record terminations may be concerning. While UT Southwestern has not been affected at this time, the Office of International Affairs (OIA) is closely monitoring these developments to ensure the continued support and well-being of our international students and scholars.

These rotations will serve as a clearinghouse for varied types of international health experiences to include formal clinical visiting clerkships or externships at an international university-affiliated program or similar experience under the guidance of a designated faculty member.

Scholarly activity is a vital component of the curriculum at UT Southwestern Medical School, reflecting our commitment to providing students with diverse opportunities for growth and career development. It fosters skills in scholarly inquiry grounded in ethical principles and focuses on the discovery and communication of new knowledge. Among the six scholarly activity tracks offered, the Global Health Track is an option.
