2024 Conflict of Interest (COI) Statements due Jan. 22–Mar. 1, 2024

Appropriate disclosure and management of financial interests and outside activities is vital to protecting UT Southwestern’s reputation for excellence and maintaining the public’s trust. Each year, UTSW faculty members, researchers, advanced practice providers, executive leadership, and certain others (Covered Individuals) must submit a Conflict of Interest (COI) Statement of Financial Interests (“Statement”).

Covered Individuals must complete a 2024 Statement between January 22 and March 1. Beginning January 22, Covered Individuals will receive notifications to submit a Statement in the COI-Info Portal, the new COI software solution replacing the prior system. Statements cannot be submitted prior to January 22, 2024.

Not all employees at UTSW are Covered Individuals, so if you do not receive an email prompting you to submit a Statement, then you are not a Covered Individual. If you are not a Covered Individual, but have outside activities to report, please follow the instructions below under "Outside Activities."

Please note that adjunct, emeritus, and volunteer faculty who do not participate in research do not need to submit a Statement. Those who do participate in research continue to be required to submit per policy. Adjunct, emeritus, or volunteer faculty are not subject to outside activity approval requirements.

While 2023 information will be available in your 2024 Statement in the COI-Info Portal, Covered Individuals must verify and update information as needed and ensure that all questions have been answered in full.

Outside Activities

UTSW individuals who do not need to complete an annual COI Statement are still required to submit an Outside Activity Request Form prior to engaging in any outside activities that are not otherwise pre-approved according to UTSW policy EMP-158. Individuals who submit a COI Statement do not need to submit any additional forms for their outside activities.

Beginning on January 22, 2024, please log in to the COI-Info Portal to request approval for your outside activity via the Outside Activity Request Form.
