NIH: Office of Research on Women’s Health
Established in 1990, the Office of Research on Women's Health serves as the focal point for women's health research at the National Institutes of Health. For over thirty years, ORWH has worked across the NIH and beyond to advance our understanding of sex and gender as influences in health and disease, support women in biomedical careers, and stimulate research to improve the health of women.

NIH: Notice of Special Interest (NOSI): Women’s Health Research (NOT-OD-24-079)
In alignment with the White House Initiative on Women’s Health Research, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is issuing this Notice of Special Interest to highlight interest in receiving research applications focused on diseases and health conditions that predominantly affect women (e.g., autoimmune diseases; depressive disorders, Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and Alzheimer’s disease-related dementias (ADRD), gender-based-violence), present and progress differently in women (e.g., cardiovascular disease; HIV; reproductive aging and its implications), or are female-specific (e.g., uterine fibroids; endometriosis; menopause).

On October 9, 2024, Pivotal, a Melinda French Gates organization, launched Action for Women’s Health, a $250 million global open call that will fund organizations around the world that are improving women’s mental and physical health.
NIH: The Intersection of Sex and Gender Influences on Health and Disease (RFA-OD-22-028)
The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to invite R01 applications on the influence and intersection of sex and gender in health and disease, including: (1) research applications that examine sex and gender factors and their intersection in understanding health and disease; and (2) research that addresses one of the five objectives from Strategic Goal 1 of the 2019-2023 Trans-NIH Strategic Plan for Women's Health Research "Advancing Science for the Health of Women."
