The Office of Research Regulatory Affairs (ORRA) provides oversight and support to ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations governing research. ORRA’s mission is to promote ethical, compliant, and secure research practices that uphold the highest standards of integrity and participant protection. ORRA encompasses several key programs and offices, including:

Human Research Protection Program/Institutional Review Board (HRPP/IRB)

Safeguards the rights and welfare of research participants. The UTSW HRPP has been fully accredited by AAHRPP since 2019.

Single IRB (sIRB)

Regulatory Support and Monitoring

Assists sponsor-investigators with regulatory requirements and monitors research for compliance with state and federal regulations, guidance, and institutional policies.

Conflict of Interest

Manages disclosures and mitigates potential conflicts to maintain research integrity.

Ensures ethical and compliant conduct of stem cell research.
