Staying safe on campus

Maintaining a safe and secure environment for everyone on campus is a fundamental responsibility of the UT Southwestern Police Department (UTPD). Each of us plays an important role in helping University Police respond quickly and effectively in an emergency. Please carefully review the emergency contact information and response guidance below.

While on campus:

For the fastest response during an on-campus emergency, contact UTPD directly. While 911 is available for emergencies, dialing 911 from a cell phone routes your call to the Dallas Police Department, which may delay assistance. Please save the following UT Southwestern Police numbers to your phone favorites or speed dial:

  • Emergencies: 214-648-8911
  • Nonemergencies: 214-648-8311

If you have Microsoft Teams Calling enabled, you can also reach UTPD via Teams. Visit the ServiceNow website for details. To activate this feature, visit the Information Resources intranet page (on-campus network or VPN connection required) or MicrosoftTeamsCalling@utsouthwestern.edu UTSW’s Telecom Customer Service Team.

UTPD is also accessible through vehicle gate intercoms or emergency call boxes located across campus.

Please note: Brookriver, all buildings on East Campus, Empire Plaza, Pegasus Park, Trinity Towers, Woodview Tower, and X Building are all considered on-campus locations.

While off campus or working remotely:

In case of an emergency, dial 911 to contact your local police department. UT Southwestern employees and faculty working at Children’s Health and Parkland Health should follow site-specific protocols.

If you have questions or need further clarification, please Jia.wu@utsouthwestern.edu Officer J. Wu, UTSW Crime Prevention Officer.

Thank you for helping us maintain a safe campus environment.
