We have established a national and international reputation for training the next generation of plastic surgery leaders, providing clinical excellence, and conducting groundbreaking research.

Pioneering Excellence

We developed one of the first true departments of plastic surgery in the United States. Our clinical practice, among the largest in the country, is robust and diverse, and our residencies are among the most sought-after in plastic surgery.

Our faculty is committed to delivering optimal patient care using evidence-based medicine. We provide unparalleled education to medical students, residents, and fellows in the art and science of plastic surgery.

We are committed to delivering care to all patients irrespective of gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, religion, or social status.

Plastic Surgery Specialties

UT Southwestern delivers comprehensive, cutting-edge care to a large volume of patients, including:

Our Department is located in a state-of-the-art environment at the University’s Outpatient Building. It houses our plastic surgery clinics, academic offices, and Medallion Guest Suites, which feature a hotel-like atmosphere for patients.

Education of Future Leaders

We add and train six new residents a year, four of which are accepted directly from medical school into the integrated program format. The other two are in an independent program format and begin after the completion of a specialized general surgery residency. Our residents are actively involved in the care of patients, ranging from cleft lip/palate and craniofacial anomalies to the management of hand and upper extremity disorders, as well as comprehensive management of cosmetic and reconstructive disorders.
