Star Okolie

Trainee

Star Okolie is a second-year medical student at UT Southwestern Medical School, focusing on female urology research under the guidance of Dr. Philippe Zimmern. With a passion for advancing women's health, Star is contributing to innovative studies in urinary conditions affecting women. Outside of research and coursework, Star enjoys staying active through powerlifting, keeping her music skills sharp with the violin, and volunteering in community health and student mentorship initiatives.

Philip Taboada

Trainee

Phillip has focused on comparing the approaches of urologists and infectious disease specialists in managing recurrent UTIs in post-menopausal women. In addition, he completed a literature review examining the long-term outcomes of a surgical technique to fix vaginal vault prolapse, specifically comparing laparoscopic and robotic surgical techniques. Both projects have deepened his understanding of these important clinical topics.

Alea Zone

Trainee

Alea is a third-year MD/MPH student interested in Urology and global health. Her current research explores immediate post-operative outcomes among patients undergoing electrofulguration of the bladder.

Zoe Bass

Trainee

Zoe is a fourth year MD/MPH student pursuing a research year under the teaching of Dr. Zimmern. Her projects focus primarily on female urology, such as bladder obstruction and the financial complications of urologic conditions.

Cain Bladder Center Symposium

Earlier last fall, clinicians and researchers prepared for the second annual Cain Bladder Center Symposium, which was held on October 24, 2025. Topics covered ranged from pelvic floor reconstruction and overactive bladder to recurrent urinary tract infections. The next Symposium will be held on Friday, October 23, 2026.
