Department of Pharmacology
In the Department of Pharmacology at UT Southwestern, our research spans the full spectrum of modern molecular and cellular biology – from molecules to microbes to model organisms – with the goal of translating fundamental discoveries into the next generation of therapies. We foster a dynamic research environment that supports scientists at every career stage, encouraging bold ideas and pursuit of the most important questions in biomedical science. I invite you to explore the groundbreaking work in our department and see why Pharmacology at UT Southwestern is truly one of a kind.
About the Department
The Department of Pharmacology is housed in the T. Boone Pickens Biomedical Building on the North Campus of UT Southwestern Medical Center.
The Department is composed of more than 25 primary tenure-track faculty members, including one Nobel laureate and three National Academy of Sciences members. Our faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and students are engaged in research projects funded by the National Institutes of Health, the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, the State of Texas, the Cancer Prevention Research Institute of Texas, and several private organizations.
We are actively involved in biomedical research areas that span a broad range of approaches, from integrative physiology and metabolism to molecular pharmacology and systems biology. The Department is also committed to training students from UT Southwestern Graduate School, UT Southwestern Medical School, and UT Southwestern School of Health Professions.
