Tim Kirtek won Stowell-Orbison Award
Tim Kirtek won Stowell-Orbison award at this year’s USCAP meeting in Boston for his project on ‘Acute Leukemias of Ambiguous Lineage with RUNX1 Mutations Show Similar Prognosis Compared to Acute Myeloid Leukemia with RUNX1 Mutations: A Study from the Bone Marrow Pathology Group’.

Tim’s work suggests that RUNX1-mutated acute leukemias with ambiguous lineage (ALAL) should be included within AML group rather than within the ALAL group and has an impact on therapy and outcome of this group. Stowell-Orbison awards are given to pathologists-in-training who present the best research work and are based on originality, impact, design, presentation, and trainee input.
