Collaborations with counterpart society ISUP: During last year’s Genitourinary Pathology Society (GUPS) presidency, Dr. Shah focused on collaborating with the counterpart International Society of Urological Pathology (ISUP) in particularly on projects where joint endorsements of the 2 societies are critical to bring uniform practicing guidelines for practicing pathologists. With such collaborations, Dr. Shah and team recently published a very high-impact white paper in European Urology (impact factor of 24.34). Dr. Shah is one of the lead authors (Eur Urol. 2025 Mar 17:S0302-2838(25)00150-2). Dr. Shah has played an instrumental role in organizing an expert consultation conference on intraductal carcinoma of the prostate (IDCP) at the recent Boston USCAP meeting to resolve (develop consensus) on some of the outstanding differences between the 2 societies on this subject. Dr. Shah and team are working on developing uniform guidelines for IDCP. This meeting was attended by over 150 in-person and over 120 virtual participants and the team is hoping to have 2 to 3 publications from this collaboration.

Recent Publication in Modern Pathology: Dr. Shah and team have recently published very novel findings on prostate ductal adenocarcinoma, where they show that it is not a uniform disease. Understanding its genetic and clinical heterogeneity is key to patient management. This work is published in Modern Pathology (Mod Pathol 38 (2025) 100743). Dr. Qi Cai is the first author, and Dr. Shah as the senior author has provided important mentorship to her in this work.
