Chi Named Parkland Unsung Physician of the Month May 2025

Zhikai Chi, M.D., Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Gastrointestinal and Liver Pathology, has been recognized by Parkland Health Medical Executive Committee as the Unsung Physician of the Month for May 2025.

Kyle Molberg, M.D., Professor of Pathology, states Dr. Chi “was noted to be an impeccable GI Pathologist with a positive attitude. The trainees love to work with him, as do his colleagues in GI Pathology. He’s always willing to help the GI team in whatever way he can.”

Dr. Molberg further explains, “The Medical Executive Committee is the lead committee for the Parkland Medical Staff. The committee interfaces with the Parkland Executive team (CEO, CMO, COO, etc.) and approves the work of the Credentials Committee, the Privileging Committee, the Peer Review Committee, the Bylaws Committee, and several other committees. Each hospital is required by CMS to have an MEC which ultimately answers to the Board of Directors. At Parkland there are approximately 35-40 active members of the MEC, which includes a President and Vice president of the Medical Staff, each with a two-year term.”
