Collagenous Colitis

Gastrointestinal (GI) and Liver Pathology at UT Southwestern Medical Center provides subspecialty care to patients with neoplastic, inflammatory, and transplant needs in the realm of gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, and pancreatic systems. The group is comprised of subspecialty trained gastrointestinal pathologists, who oversee more than 25,000 cases per year.

Our pathologists provide expert support to our clinical colleagues, participating in a range of multi-disciplinary conferences including inflammatory bowel disease, gastroesophageal tumors, ano-colorectal conference, neoplastic pancreatic care conference, and medical liver conference. We host clinical fellows from gastroenterology and hepatology, as well as serving as an educational resource for medical students, and pathology residents and fellows.

Our faculty are recognized for their clinically relevant research and teaching expertise at both a national and international level. They serve in leadership roles in professional organizations such as the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, the Rodger C. Haggitt Gastrointestinal Pathology Society, and the Texas Society of Pathology. With exposure to cases at both a tertiary academic institution as well as a large county safety net hospital, our pathologists have a wealth of expertise and materials to serve a competitive gastrointestinal pathology fellowship as well as our consultative practice.
