Education and Training
One of the three major goals of the Department of Neurological Surgery is achieving recognition as the best neurosurgical training program in the nation. We are attaining this goal through our work with medical students, residents, and fellows.
Observerships
The Department of Neurological Surgery offers unpaid observerships that allow students, physicians, and other individuals to learn about various aspects of Neurological Surgery.
Medical Student Training
The Department of Neurological Surgery engages with medical students throughout their training to: increase neuroscience knowledge, introduce promising candidates to neurosurgery, prepare UT Southwestern students for clerkships and residencies, and evaluate potential residents for the UT Southwestern program.
Residency Program
Our Residency Program prioritizes strong clinical training and sound judgment, both inside and outside the operating room. We seek trainees who aspire to advance neurosurgery through leadership, research, education, increased access to care, and other academic pursuits.
