Away Rotation Guide Who needs an away rotation? Away rotations are a great opportunity to get to know different programs, cities, and regions that you are interested in. Most of the specialties that strongly encourage away rotations are surgical subspecialties (orthopedics, ENT, plastic surgery, urology, neurosurgery, etc.), however, emergency medicine and family medicine programs also offer ample positions for visiting students. When asking yourself ‘Do I need to do an away rotation
