2022 Publications for the Preclinical Pharmacology Core Lab at UT Southwestern

During graduate school, I enjoyed attending and presenting at international science meetings and learning how other scientists approach scientific problems. For example, in 1992 I attended the Eleventh International Congress on Fibrinolysis in Copenhagen, Denmark, where, as a student, I was exposed to new methodologies, cultures, and landscapes.

UT Southwestern continues to expand the number of clinical trials testing new treatments for COVID-19, including some newer investigations now offered to outpatients.

From the beginning, community generosity has fueled UT Southwestern’s achievements. Numerous academic and civic leaders have shaped the University’s vision, but Dr. Edward H. Cary planted the first seed in 1943 when he pitched Dallas philanthropist Karl Hoblitzelle and a coalition of business leaders the idea for a leading medical center in North Texas.

UT Southwestern’s School of Health Professions will honor 140 degree candidates from six academic programs, its largest class ever, in a virtual commencement ceremony on Dec. 13.

But with the health crisis came an opportunity to solve two critical problems - how to keep students engaged in clinical training and how to track the health of COVID-19 patients discharged from William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital. As a solution, Dr. Gary Reed, Associate Dean of Quality, Safety and Outcomes Education, and Dr. Carol Croft, Professor of Internal Medicine, created COVID-19 Follow-up Telemedicine, an elective course in which medical students initiated follow-up phone calls with those patients.

Dr. Celette Skinner, Chair of the Department of Population and Data Sciences, brings a new perspective to campus to help solve pressing problems in North Texas.

Match Day at UT Southwestern

This year 140 students from the School of Health Professions will earn degrees for Master of Prosthetics and Orthotics, Master of Rehabilitation Counseling, Master of Radiation Therapy, Master of Physician Assistant Studies, Master of Clinical Nutrition, and Doctor of Physical Therapy. The Class of 2020 marks the largest class of graduates for the School of Health Professions.
