Dr. Lora Hooper, Chair of Immunology, has been selected for a prestigious award from the American Society for Microbiology. The ASM Award in Basic Research recognizes an outstanding scientist whose discoveries have been fundamental to advancing our understanding of the microbial world.

Associate Professor of Psychiatry Dr. Molly Camp and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry Dr. Adriane dela Cruz recently received Faculty Innovation in Education Awards from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology Inc.

Dr. Joshua Mendell, Professor and Vice Chair of Molecular Biology, has been awarded a 2019 Memorial Sloan Kettering Paul Marks Prize for Cancer Research. The award honors promising scientists age 45 or younger.

Dr. Sharon Reimold, Vice Chair for Clinical Operations and Faculty Development in the Department of Internal Medicine, received the Women in Cardiology Mentoring Award at the American Heart Association’s (AHA) Scientific Sessions conference Nov. 16.

UT Southwestern’s Kidney Cancer Program (KCP) and Simulation Center have been named finalists in D CEO and Dallas Innovates’ inaugural Innovation Awards honoring companies, entrepreneurs, and other leaders in North Texas. The KCP is one of five finalists in the Innovation in Healthcare category, and the Sim Center is among five Innovation in Education finalists.

Gov. Greg Abbott reappointed Jennifer Flanagan to the Texas Board of Medical Radiologic Technology in September for a term that expires in 2023. The board is responsible for regulating the practice of radiologic technology.
