Honoring UT Southwestern’s Advanced Practice Providers

The 2022 third-quarter award honorees were celebrated during a virtual event on Oct. 21, hosted by John Warner, M.D., Executive Vice President for Health System Affairs and Health System CEO.

UT Southwestern’s newest group of Endowed Scholars in Medical Science includes seven scientists with diverse research interests that range from neural circuits in the brain to biological signaling in cancer cells. Each Scholar will receive four years of financial support, from 2019-2022, to carry out independent, cutting-edge research as a tenure-track Assistant Professor.

Michael Buszczak, Ph.D., Professor of Molecular Biology, and Vishal Patel, M.D., Professor of Internal Medicine, will share the $100,000 UTSW Biotech+ at Pegasus Park Commercialization Milestone Award.

UTSW researchers pioneered the use of stereotactic ablative radiation (SAbR), reporting the first case in the literature in 2015.
