In honor of his achievements, Dr. Cunningham has received the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists’ Luella Klein Lifetime Achievement Award, which recognizes an obstetrician and gynecologist who has dedicated his or her life in a significant way to women’s health.

The American College of Cardiology (ACC) has awarded the 2020 Distinguished Mentor Award to Dr. James de Lemos in honor of contributions to the cardiovasculr profession.

In 2018, Dr. Anastasia Bobilev, a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Psychiatry, began volunteering as a mentor for college-bound students of the Dallas Independent School District’s Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School. Rangel, located near Fair Park and the first public all-girls college preparatory school in Texas, was founded in 2004 by a public-private partnership between the DISD and the Young Women’s Preparatory Network (YWPN).

Dr. Guiyang Hao, Assistant Professor of Radiology, has been awarded a one-year, $100,000 Pilot Award from the Neuroendocrine Tumor Research Foundation (NETRF) to support his work exploring new nuclear imaging probes to detect neuroendocrine tumors.

For Dr. Rachel Russo, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, effective teaching involves collaboration with students that not only imparts facts but also inspires a love of learning. “I think this is important in all areas, but particularly in the medical field where lifelong learning is a necessity,” she said.

Dr. Jon Williamson, Dean of the UT Southwestern School of Health Professions, was recently elected to the Board of Directors for the Association of Schools Advancing Health Professions (ASAHP), the national organization for schools of allied health.

Congratulations to Sharron Coffie, M.S.N., RN, CNS-BC, who has been selected as one of the Dallas-Fort Worth Great 100 Nurses for 2021.

Dr. Thomas recently received the Association of Directors of Medical Student Education in Psychiatry (ADMSEP) Scholarly Publication Award for 2020 for her paper, titled “Recruitment of Black Men and Women Into Academic Psychiatry.” Though ADMSEP’s in-person 2020 meeting was canceled, she will be honored at a virtual awards ceremony on Feb. 24.
