UT Southwestern's Conflict of Interest (COI) Office helps investigators identify, understand, and manage conflicts of interest.

Growing up, conversations with Dr. Rachel Green’s parents often turned to big-picture questions such as what makes people human. The nervous system was a key part of the answer for Dr. Green, who fell in love with the problem-solving and patient-care aspects of neurology, solidifying her decision to pursue that field.

Dr. Kyle Goodman initially studied chemical engineering as an undergrad. But his interest in basic science steered him down a different path, one that would include completing both medical school and graduate school. His chosen specialty of pathology combines his interests of translational research, medicine, and teaching.

Unrelated, rare neurological disorders diagnosed in her grandfather and a sister prompted Dr. Kathryn Gallaway to pursue a career in medicine. Those memories of her family members continue to drive her to serve patients and families facing long-term, potentially devastating diagnoses.

2022 Medical Student Awards

More than 80 friends and colleagues have donated nearly $600,000 to establish the A. Compton Broders III, M.D. Chair in Emergency Medicine. The funds will be invested as an endowment held in perpetuity, and the Chair’s proceeds will benefit faculty members who will hold the endowment and support educational, clinical, and research endeavors in the spirit of Dr. Broder’s legacy and the mission of the Department of Emergency Medicine for many years to come.

The following faculty promotions took effect Sept. 1 at UT Southwestern.

A Professor of Biophysics and Biochemistry, Dr. Grishin will present the next President’s Lecture virtually at 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, in a talk titled “Computational Adventures in Biomedical Sciences: From Molecules to Butterflies.” The presentation will be available at utsouthwestern.edu/pls. Dr. Arnoldo’s unique teaching style and passion for medicine were recently recognized by the Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation with a Piper Professor Award. This elite honor recognizes outstanding college professors in Texas.

Dr. Barker is among 14 educators from across the state system recognized Nov. 16-17 as Regents’ Award winners by the UT System Board of Regents.
