Dr. Jeffrey Woodruff, an Assistant Professor of Cell Biology and Biophysics, today was named one of 22 early career researchers selected to join the Pew Scholars Program in the Biomedical Sciences. Pew Scholars receive four years of funding to invest in foundational research to pursue scientific breakthroughs and advance human health. Dr. Woodruff will explore how mammalian egg cells maintain their quality even after decades spent awaiting fertilization.

Tuoqi Wu, Ph.D., an Assistant Professor of Immunology and in the Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center, was chosen to receive a 2023 American Association of Immunologists (AAI) Aspire Award, which honors outstanding early-career investigators for research accomplishments and professional promise in the field of immunology.

Hoxhaj, Obata receive Pew Charitable Trusts research awards

As Nurses Week comes to an end, we share the touching story of Rupesh (Rup) Kotiya, his wife, Siobhan, and their children. The Kotiya family first experienced the compassion of UTSW nurses and caregivers in 2008. Then in 2014, Rup was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) He battled the disease for more than nine years before succumbing to the disease and donating his organs to save four lives.
