Orson Moe is a physician-scientist who specializing in studies in disease-oriented pre-clinical pathophysiology in kidney-related topics. The studies are focus on metabolism and epithelial transport physiology and pathophysiology. The clinically relevant topics are acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, extra-renal complications of kidney disease, and kidney stones. In the laboratory, students and post-docs assume central roles in conducting their studies and their training are matched to their projected scientific career trajectories. In addition to being a clinician-laboratory scientist, Moe is also active in education in basic and clinical science on campus and at the national and international levels.
