Our mission is to advance biomedical knowledge in Multiple Sclerosis and support investigators in Neurology using best practices and comprehensive biostatistics expertise.

The Molecular Imaging and Precision Medicine Lab has four Technology Research and Development (TR&D) projects that provide a platform on which new technology is developed and disseminated. The TR&Ds are complementary and integrated and extend from the development of reagents to detect and promote an immune reactive tumor microenvironment to the synthesis of nanodrones to treat cancer and combined small-molecule diagnostic and therapeutics (theranostic agents). We focus on generation of next-generation precision platforms, tools and techniques for tackling problems at the forefront of biomedical research with a focus on those that will lead to near-term translation.

The primary aim of our research is to advance the understanding of chronic liver diseases, including metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), alcoholic liver disease (ASH), liver fibrosis/cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). By leveraging advanced 'omics' technologies, mouse genetics, and sophisticated pathohistological analyses, we strive to uncover the fundamental mechanisms behind the onset and progression of these diseases. Ultimately, our goal is to translate these insights into innovative therapeutic strategies to improve patient outcomes.

In the Suleiman Lab, we focus on studying the podocyte biology, specifically the actin dynamics and cytoskeleton. Our research includes examining the balance of Rac and RhoA, two members of the Rho small GTPases, in both healthy and diseased kidneys.
