"Unraveling Connections: IBD Genes and Immunity" Speaker: Clara Abraham, M.D. Professor of Medicine Division of Digestive Diseases Yale School of Medicine About Clara Abraham: Dr. Abraham holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science and engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, which she received with high honors. She earned her medical degree at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, where she then obtained advanced training through a fellowship in gastroenterology. She later completed postdoctoral training in T cell biology at the University of Chicago before joining the faculty there. Dr. Abraham’s research examines immunological pathways that regulate intestinal immune homeostasis and drive inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Her work focuses on innate immune mechanisms identified through IBD genetic studies, integrating in vivo models with primary human cell analyses to define how IBD‑associated genes function and influence disease development.
