This unique event brings together human and veterinary medicine to explore how clinical trials in animals and people can inform and accelerate one another — in areas like oncology, neurology, and more. Based on the “One Medicine” concept, the symposium promotes cross-species collaboration to drive smarter research and faster therapeutic breakthroughs. This symposium qualifies for CME credit. "Catatonia Clinical Conundrums in the Older Adult" Speaker: Erica Chu, M.D. Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine Division of Geriatric Medicine UT Southwestern Medical Center About Erica Chu: Dr. Chu earned her medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine. She completed internal medicine residency training at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center and a fellowship in geriatric medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City. "GERD Management" Speaker: Sravanya Gavini, M.D., M.P.H. Associate Professor of Internal Medicine Division of Digestive & Liver Diseases UT Southwestern Medical Center About Sravanya Gavini: Originally from Vijayawada, India, Dr. Gavini holds a bachelor's degree in chemistry with minors in Spanish and biology from the University of Alabama-Birmingham. She earned her medical degree at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, where she also completed a residency in internal medicine. She then received advanced training in gastroenterology and GI motility through a fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston. During her fellowship, Dr. Gavini also performed clinical research on esophageal reflux in the lung transplant population and obtained her Master of Public Health degree.
