“Genetic and Acquired Lipodystrophies: Decoding Human Metabolism Through Rare Disorders” Speaker: Abhimanyu Garg, M.D. Professor of Internal Medicine Division of Endocrinology UT Southwestern Medical Center About Abhimanyu Garg: Originally from New Delhi, India, Dr. Garg received his medical degree and completed his residency in internal medicine at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. He performed fellowships in endocrinology and metabolism at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and at UT Southwestern. He joined the faculty of UT Southwestern in 1988. Dr. Garg is a leading expert worldwide on lipodystrophy treatment and research. He was the first researcher to test the hormone leptin as a treatment for lipodystrophy as part of a clinical trial that started at UT Southwestern in 2000. In 2014, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the drug form of leptin for the treatment of generalized lipodystrophy. His current research focuses on whether leptin therapy will improve m…

The UT Southwestern Simulation Center invites you to join us for the ninth annual Charles Morris Ginsburg Simulation-Based Quality Improvement and Research Forum on April 22 — a day dedicated to collaboration, innovation, and advancing health care education through simulation. This year’s keynote speaker, Laurah Turner, Ph.D., Associate Dean for Artificial Intelligence and Educational Informatics and Associate Professor at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, will present Applied Intelligence: Integrating AI Technologies Into Health Professions Education. The forum brings together educators, clinicians, researchers, and learners from diverse disciplines who share a passion for simulation-based quality improvement and research.
