UT Southwestern’s Office of Quality, Safety, and Outcomes Education is offering a beginner dynamic Quality Improvement (QI) course this fall, designed to equip healthcare professionals with the tools to lead impactful change. Grounded in the Model for Improvement, the course blends evidence-based methodologies, interactive workshops, and expert mentorship to guide participants through designing and implementing real-world QI initiatives. Open to physicians, nurses, educators, researchers, and staff from UT Southwestern, Parkland, Children’s Health, the VA, and Scottish Rite for Children, the course requires no prior QI experience and is ideal for novice to intermediate learners. He completed internal medicine residency training at the University of Michigan, where he also obtained fellowship training in geriatric medicine. After serving on the University of Michigan faculty, he joined the Utah School of Medicine faculty in 2005 as Chief of the Division of Geriatrics in the School of Medicine and Director of the VA Salt Lake City Geriatric Research, Education and Clinical Center, a position he held until 2014. Speaker: Zhengda Li, PhD Postdoctoral Researcher, Ferrell Lab Stanford University Talk title: Decoding Temporal & Spatial Principles of Biological Circuits Speaker Bio: Dr. Li attended Peking University to study biological science and became interested in using theoretical & computational tools to solve biological problems. He joined Qiong Yang’s lab at the University of Michigan to study design principles of biological oscillators and used Xenopus extract droplets to test theoretical predictions. He earned his Ph.D. in 2019 and accepted a postdoctoral position with the Ferrell lab to study trigger wave propagation in two dimensional space.
