She then received advanced training through a postdoctoral fellowshipin cardiovascular epidemiology and prevention at Stanford University. An internationally recognized leader in the epidemiology of cardiovascular and other chronic diseases, Dr. Carnethon investigates the behavioral, social and biological underpinnings of the leading causes of death in the U.S. and around the world. "Navigating Anemia Therapy in CKD: Old and New Players" Speaker: Volker H. Haase, M.D. Professor of Medicine Division of Nephrology Vanderbilt University Medical Center About Volker Haase: Dr. Haase completed his medical education at Johann Wolfgang Goethe Universitat Frankfurt am Main and a research fellowship in molecular genetics at Massachusetts General Hospital. He then received internal medicine residency training at Emory University, followed by a clinical fellowship in nephrology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and training in experimental biology and genome editing at the Whitehead Institute of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. As a physician-scientist, Dr. Haase focuses his research on mammalian oxygen sensing, prolyl hydroxylase domain oxygen sensor and HIF biology.
