“Mast Cell Disorders: Challenges and Advances in Diagnosis and Management” Made possible by the I.G. Bromberg Memorial Visiting Professorship Speaker: Cem Akin, M.D., Ph.D. Kenneth P. Matthews Legacy Professor of Allergy and Immunology Clinical Professor of Internal Medicine University of Michigan About Cem Akin: Dr. Akin received his medical education at Instanbul University and completed internal medicine residency training at the University of Louisville, where he also earned his doctorate in microbiology and immunology. He then obtained fellowship training in allergy and immunology at the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center, where he also worked as a staff physician and researcher. Dr. Akin is recognized for his work on mast cell disorders including mastocytosis, mast cell activation syndromes, and anaphylaxis. As an Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School, he established the first multidisciplinary mastocytosis center at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. His clinical interes…
