Don’t miss an exciting afternoon of culture, community, and dance at the annual Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month Celebration Wednesday, May 27. This hybrid event will begin with a light lunch reception at 11:30 a.m. featuring a menu of Indian dishes. At noon, the ceremony will open with a Bollywood dance performance by Ethnique Performing Arts, followed by a keynote address by Anand Rohatgi, M.D., FAHA, FASPC, Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology and Program Director for Cardiovascular Disease Research Pathway and UTSW’s South Asian Heart Program. Hosted by the Office for Institutional Opportunity, this event will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on South Campus in D1.602 and livestreamed on UTSW’s YouTube channel for those unable to attend in person. Campus shuttle services will be increased at the time of this event and the gates at Staff Garage 2 on South Campus will be open. He then received advanced trainining through a fellowship in metabolism, endocrinology, and nutrition at the University of Washington. An internationally recognized endocrinologist, Dr. D'Alessio has significantly advanced the understanding of metabolic regulation and incretin biology. His research centers on how gut-derived hormones, particularly GLP-1 and GIP, regulate glucose tolerance and insulin secretion, with a focus on their therapeutic implications for type 2 diabetes.
