She received her medical degree at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine and completed internal medicine residency and infectious diseases fellowship training at Emory University in Atlanta, and a postdoctoral fellowship in global public health at UC San Diego. "Generating 'Little g' Geriatricians: Aging Education for All" Primary Speaker: Deborah Freeland, M.D. Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine Division of Geriatric Medicine UT Southwestern Medical Center About Deborah Freeland: Dr. Freeland earned her medical degree at UT Southwestern Medical School. She completed her residency in internal medicine at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center and then returned to UT Southwestern for advanced training through a fellowship in geriatrics. She joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2021. Dr. Freeland is active in medical student, resident, and fellow training and co-leads an elective course that offers students early exposure to caring for older adults in the home and hospital settings. The monthly Komen Breast Cancer Research Forum will be held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month from 9-10am. The Forum is organized by Drs. Heather McArthur, Ariella Hanker, and Qing Zhang to help facilitate information exchange among basic, translational, and clinical investigators with a focus in breast cancer as well as foster interactions between clinicians and scientists. One main objective of this forum is to jointly learn what the institutional assets in breast cancer are so we can make decisions on what we are capable in terms of multi-investigator research grants, clinical trials, mentoring, outreach, and program building. Associate Professor of Medicine Division of Infectious Diseases Emory University About Jonathan Colasanti: Dr. Colasanti holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Virginia. He received his medical degree from the University of Miami, where he also completed residency training and earned a master's degree in public health. He then obtained advanced training through a fellowship in infectious diseases at Emory University. His clinical and research interests focus on the delivery of HIV care to vulnerable populations, across the spectrum of the HIV care continuum.
