Bonilla, Ph.D., Assistant Professor and Head of Lab, HHMI Freeman Hrabowski Scholar Steve L. Bonilla is an Assistant Professor at The Rockefeller University, where he leads the Laboratory of RNA Structural Biology and Biophysics. He is a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Freeman Hrabowski Scholar and Hanna H. Gray Fellow, and a faculty member of the Tri-Institutional PhD Program in Chemical Biology. The Bonilla lab investigates the fundamental principles that dictate RNA structural dynamics, and how RNA viruses exploit those dynamics to regulate their life cycles. Sands Distinguished Chair in Neuroscience and Chair of the Department of Neuroscience at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He joined UT Southwestern in 2009. His research interests are the molecular mechanism of circadian clocks, neuroscience, and the genetic basis of behavior. Dr. Takahashi pioneered the use of genetics in the mouse as a tool for discovery of genes underlying neurobiology and behavior, and his discovery of the mouse and human Clock genes led to a description of a conserved circadian clock mechanism in animals. "The Secretory Life of the World’s Most Awesome Hormone" Speaker: Jeffrey Zigman, M.D., Ph.D. Professor of Internal Medicine Division of Endocrinology UT Southwestern Medical Center About Jeffrey Zigman: Originally from Bradford, Pennsylvania, Dr. Zigman holds a bachelor's degree in biological sciences from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. He earned his doctorate in biochemistry and molecular biology at the University of Chicago. He earned his medical degree at the University of Chicago School of Medicine. He completed internal medicine residency training at the University of Chicago. He then received advanced training through a clinical and research fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism under Dr. Joel Elmquist and Dr. Jeffrey Garber at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.
