BioHPC Training -Python - UT Southwestern Events Calendar

We would like to invite you to an upcoming BioHPC training session focused on Python on BioHPC. Python is one of the most widely used programming languages in scientific computing, and BioHPC offers several powerful ways to run it on our cluster. In this session we will cover how to launch Python on BioHPC nodes, manage packages and isolated environments with Conda, and work interactively through JupyterLab. We will also explore how to measure and improve script performance using profiling tools and give a brief introduction to parallel computing with multiprocessing and MPI. Whether you are new to Python on HPC systems or looking to optimize your existing workflows, this session will equip you with practical tools and techniques to get more out of BioHPC. "Beyond the Algorithm: A Learning Health System Approach to AI in Healthcare" Speaker: Wendy Chapman, Ph.D. Professor of Internal Medicine Division of General Internal Medicine Director, Center for Clinical Informatics UT Southwestern Medical Center About Wendy Chapman: Dr. Chapman holds a bachelor’s degree in linguistics from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, where she also earned her doctorate in medical informatics. She conducted postdoctoral research in biomedical informatics at the University of Pittsburgh before joining the faculty as an Assistant Professor in 2003. In 2010, she was appointed Associate Professor at the University of California, San Diego, where she remained until 2013, when she joined the faculty as Professor and Chair of Biomedical Informatics at the University of Utah. He earned his doctorate in biochemistry and molecular biology at the University of Chicago. He earned his medical degree at the University of Chicago School of Medicine. He completed internal medicine residency training at the University of Chicago. He then received advanced training through a clinical and research fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism under Dr. Joel Elmquist and Dr. Jeffrey Garber at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.
