Telecom and Network Infrastructure
Mission
The mission of the Telecom and Network Infrastructure Division is to make current and future technologies an asset for the UT Southwestern Medical Center campus.
Our strategies will be economical, efficient, flexible, and focused on enhancing the abilities of researchers, physicians, and health-care related services. We will strive to build and maintain the most innovative and reliable communications network to improve Information Resources efficiency and UT Southwestern core business productivity.
Major Responsibilities of Division
Design, analysis, management, and implementation of the IP (data) and telephony infrastructure, which includes:
- Providing access to all UTSW resources and locations including University Hospitals
- Providing internet access for all campus services and resources
- Design, install, and repair of UTSW-owned fiber and copper feeders
- Quarterly vulnerability scanning of hosts
- Firewall administration
- IR construction project coordination
- Quality control
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair telephone instruments
- Administer all moves, adds, and changes associated with communications
- Wireless and cellular infrastructure
- Provisioning and ongoing configuration of campus-wide phone service
- Infrastructure design and troubleshooting
- Support of all phone-based services including voicemail, voice directory, and contact center
