Biochemistry

The Department of Biochemistry at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center invites applications from candidates for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Candidates should be engaged in innovative research within biochemistry, molecular biology, or at the interface between chemistry and biology. The Department is strongly research-oriented with major programs in metabolism and metabolic regulation, cancer biology, parasite biology, carbohydrate biochemistry, chemical biology, chemistry and drug discovery. We are particularly interested in strong candidates who wish to study molecular mechanisms of important biological processes and who will complement our existing strengths. UT Southwestern maintains state-of-the-art facilities and employs a faculty that includes four Nobel Laureates and sixteen members of the National Academy of Sciences. Biophysics

The Department of Biophysics invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the level of assistant professor. We seek outstanding candidates who study molecular mechanisms of biological processes, in vitro or in vivo, using physical and quantitative approaches. We particularly encourage applications from those with backgrounds in single-molecule spectroscopy or quantitative imaging, but are interested in all excellent candidates regardless of technical approach.

Scientists within the Department of Biophysics participate in a vibrant, interdisciplinary, interdepartmental, and highly collaborative research community within the Medical Center, and enjoy unparalleled access to state-of-the-art research cores in cryo-electron microscopy, X-ray crystallography, macromolecular NMR spectroscopy, molecular biophysics, cellular imaging, protein chemistry, and high-throughput screening.

Green Center for Reproductive Biology Sciences

The Cecil H. and Ida Green Center for Reproductive Biology Sciences and the Basic Research Unit in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology invite applications from outstanding candidates for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in signaling, gene regulation, and genome function, especially in the areas of chromatin and transcription, epigenetics, nuclear endpoints of cellular signaling pathways, nuclear receptors, RNA biology, genome organization and evolution, and DNA replication and repair.

We are interested in a wide variety of model systems and experimental approaches, including biochemistry, molecular biology, structural biology, animal models, genomics, proteomics, bioinformatics, and computational biology. The Green Center’s research programs focus on, but are not limited to, female reproductive biology, including: oocyte maturation, fertilization, development, pregnancy, parturition, stem cells, endocrinology, and oncology, as well as relevant aspects of metabolism, inflammation, immunity, and neurobiology.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. or M.D. or equivalent in a relevant field of study, postdoctoral or comparable experience, and a demonstrated record of research excellence. The Green Center is an endowed basic science research center at UT Southwestern that promotes and supports cutting-edge, integrative, and collaborative basic research in female reproduction and related areas of biology, as well as strong connections between basic and clinical research. Microbiology (Bacteriology)

The Department of Microbiology at UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a new faculty member in bacterial pathogenesis at the Assistant Professor (tenure-track) level.

The appointee will be expected to develop a front-rank, competitive, independent research program on a medically relevant bacterial pathogen(s) and/or on concepts relevant to the human microbiome. An important academic responsibility also will be the instruction and mentoring of graduate students.

An attractive start-up package, including a competitive salary and generous laboratory space in a modern building, is available to conduct research within a highly dynamic environment of a leading medical microbiology department. Molecular Biology

The Department of Molecular Biology invites applications for Assistant Professor tenure-track faculty positions. Neuroscience

The Department of Neuroscience, under the leadership of Joseph Takahashi, Ph.D., invites applications at the Assistant Professor level for a tenure-track faculty position in the broadly defined areas of neurogenetics, electrophysiology, and imaging. We seek outstanding scientists addressing molecular and genetic mechanisms underlying behavior, neural circuits, and related neurological disorders. Our emphasis is on individuals using forward genetic approaches to understand the nervous system and behavior. Individuals using advanced functional approaches to study neural circuits are also particularly encouraged to apply.
