A note from Janelle Browne, Vice President, Human Resources

To all UT Southwestern employees:

At UT Southwestern, we strive to live our core values of excellence, innovation, compassion, and teamwork every day in service of our mission. We want to hear from you regarding how we are achieving that goal as teams and as an organization, and we value feedback on areas for continuous improvement to ensure we are collectively focusing on areas that are important to you.

I want to encourage you to participate in our annual Values in Practice (VIP) employee engagement survey, which launches Monday and will remain open through Sunday, July 18. This year’s survey includes our core engagement items so we can track progress from our December Pulse survey, as well as obtain additional feedback on important focus areas of diversity, inclusion, equity, and employee well-being, to ensure we're promoting an inclusive and healthy environment for all.

On Monday, nonfaculty employees will receive the survey link from Glint, our partner survey company. It should only take eight to 10 minutes to complete and is confidential (we will receive only aggregate responses). Please answer the questions honestly based on your personal experience.

We value your voice, and your participation will help advance our mission and core values by identifying areas for improvement. We’ll use your responses to develop action plans to support the needs of our campus community.

For more information about this year’s survey, visit utsouthwestern.edu/vipsurvey or employeeengagement@utsouthwestern.edu the Organizational Development and Training (ODT) team.

We value your voice

As individual employees of UT Southwestern, we ask that you practice our institutional values  excellence, innovation, teamwork, and compassion  every day. We also want to ensure we are doing the same as an institution, so we regularly conduct a Values in Practice (VIP) employee engagement survey to solicit your feedback on our progress.

Our next baseline survey for nonfaculty employees will launch Monday, June 28. This survey includes our core engagement items so we can track progress from our December pulse survey, as well as obtain feedback on new focus areas of diversity, inclusion, and equity, and employee wellbeing, to ensure we're promoting an inclusive and healthy environment for all.

An external survey company, Glint, will again administer this survey so we can ensure confidentiality. Our collective participation in this survey will allow us to identify areas where we are doing especially well – and areas we need to prioritize for improvement. We are committed to developing action plans to address the needs and challenges that you identify as a campus community.

On June 28, Glint will email all regular, nonfaculty employees on behalf of UT Southwestern. (The subject line will say UT Southwestern wants your feedback – June Engagement Survey – Due 7/18.) Click Get Started to begin your survey.

Important survey features:

  • Responses are confidential (leaders will see overall response rates, however there is absolutely no individual information regarding who has responded and who has not).
  • Take 5-7 minutes to complete.
  • Questions mapped to the UTSW core values.
  • Can be accessed via computer or mobile phone.
  • Benchmarked to other academic medical centers.

Please complete the survey! Your voice is essential to continuing to make UTSW a great place to work and build a career.

If you have any questions, employeeengagement@utsouthwestern.edu the survey team.

Taking action based on your feedback

Within days of the survey closing on July 18, managers with more than five responses will receive Glint dashboard access. If a manager has fewer than five people or there are not at least five respondents, the group’s data will roll up into the next level manager of the organization.

The platform provides:

  • Timely feedback with a real-time dashboard
  • Enhanced reporting with ability to create and track action plans with curated recommendations and coaching resources
  • Integration of actionable goals into the performance management process

We will update this page periodically with overall survey response rates, along with information for managers, including dashboard training schedule, action planning guide, resources for small teams, and much more – all to successfully empower leaders to drive increased engagement in their unique areas.
