Message from the Chief Residents

Welcome, potential applicants! As the 2012-2013 chief residents for the Clinical Psychology program at UT Southwestern Medical Center, we would like to welcome you to our program website and thank you for considering UTSW for your doctoral training in psychology.

Our program is unique in many ways, including our location within a busy medical center and our APA-accredited affiliated internship. We provide a diverse clinical experience through a variety of clinical sites including, though not limited to, adult and children’s hospitals (both inpatient and outpatient), a psychiatric emergency room, a juvenile detention center, as well as local schools and universities. In addition, we also offer a wide range of research training opportunities, with major areas of emphasis including health psychology, neuropsychology, and child/adolescent psychology.

We have an enthusiastic group of students with diverse backgrounds and interests, as well as wonderful faculty members who are gifted clinicians, accomplished scientists, and dedicated teachers. We work hard to build a supportive community, both in and out of the workplace. The department has regular social events including an annual field day, group service activities, and other events throughout the year. Dallas itself is also a vibrant city that offers culture, entertainment, and recreation.

Please take a look around, familiarize yourself with our program, and don’t hesitate to contact us if we can be of assistance as you consider UT Southwestern’s Clinical Psychology program!

Sincerely,
Candace Thoth and Tabatha Melton
