The Policy Office was established in January 2011 to review and update UT Southwestern Medical Center’s campus-wide policies and to create and maintain a centralized electronic resource to make them fully accessible to the campus community.
Following the process outlined in the Policy on Policies, the Policy Office works closely with departments and other “policy owners” and stakeholders in reviewing and revising existing policies and developing new ones. Its work is guided by the Policy Executive Committee, which oversees the policy development and revision process and is chaired by the Vice President and Chief of Staff. Policy Executive Committee recommendations for new or revised policies are submitted to the President for final approval.
The Policy Office will be creating a new and online version of the Handbook on Institutional Policies and Operating Procedures. The Handbook, in its current version and as it will be revised, provides essential guidance to campus-wide policies and procedures that all offices and individuals at UT Southwestern are expected to follow.
