Overview

The Department of Biochemistry at UT Southwestern Medical Center is actively involved in its dual mission of education and research. The department operates at both the didactic and hands-on levels to train medical students, graduate students, and post-doctoral fellows in the broad field of biochemistry. 

• The department employs more than 300 individuals at the faculty, staff, and trainee levels.
• The research pursued by our scientists falls into three main categories: biochemistry/molecular biology, biophysics, and chemistry.
• The common thread connecting our research is the objective of resolving biological reactions, circuits, and pathways at the molecular level.
