Chemistry Labs

There are multiple chemistry projects in the AIRC involving synthesis and development of new molecular imaging agents. Five AIRC faculty and two Radiology faculty have students and postdoctoral fellows working in this space on projects including high T1 proton relaxivity gadolinium agents for MRI, responsive PARACEST agents for monitoring physiology and metabolism by MRI, nanoparticles for delivery of imaging agents and drugs to tumors, long T1 13C-enriched molecules for DNP hyperpolarization, new stable free radicals for DNP hyperpolarization, PET agents for targeting Alzheimer’s disease, and peptoid molecular libraries for targeting cancer cells.

The Chemistry Lab is one large, open room occupied by twelve fully-equipped chemistry benches, 12 vacuum hoods, and 24 desks for students and technicians.
