2019 annual enrollment is now open

Update July 15, 2019: Annual enrollment for 2019 begins Monday, July 15, and lasts until 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, July 31. Elections made during the enrollment period are effective Sept. 1, 2019. You should have received your enrollment instructions and personal identification number (PIN) from benefits@utsouthwestern.edu.

Enrollment can be completed online and you must re-enroll in the UT FLEX plan to participate for the 2019-2020 benefit plan year. More information on available benefit plan options can be found on the UTSW benefits and rewards webpage or you may view the Annual Enrollment & Resource Guide for Employees.

What remains the same

There are no major changes to the plan designs. The 2019-2020 benefit year still offers the UT SELECT and UT CONNECT medical plan options, administered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas. Enrollment in either medical plan includes the following benefits:

  • Free well-visits (annual checkups)
  • Access to customer service – which includes health care experts who use data, cost estimators, provider-finders, and other tools to enable consumers to maximize their health care benefits
  • 24/7 nurseline (888-315-9473)

What is new

The UT System, Office of Employee Benefits, announced a slight increase in premium rates for the UT SELECT and UT CONNECT medical plans and UT SELECT Dental Plus plan for all UT System employees. Employee-only coverage will continue to be at no cost to employees who select this option.

However, there are some exciting new plan features that will be beneficial to our employees.

New plan features include:

  • 90-day prescriptions from Walgreens and UT pharmacies with both UT SELECT and UT CONNECT
  • Virtual visits – Speak with a doctor anytime, anywhere with MDLIVE telemedicine services through both UT SELECT and UT CONNECT
  • Diabetes management program – Receive a high-tech meter, unlimited free strips and lancets, and coaching from Livongo for UT SELECT members
  • Personal health care navigators – For UT CONNECT members, getting an appointment or referral is simplified with a new service called CONNECT (see video below)
  • Health Advocacy Solutions – UT SELECT members can get coordinated, expert assistance for their medical care needs either through online chat or by phone

What you need to do

If you do not wish to make any benefit changes or enroll in UT FLEX, no action is needed. If you do wish to make changes, or re-enroll in UT FLEX, you will need to do so between July 15-31.
