How to navigate the new MyUTSW, part 2

We know you’ve seen some changes to MyUTSW over the past few months, and have likely read about our multiphased project that aims to enhance our digital platforms and better connect the UT Southwestern community.

In the next few days, you’ll see the biggest change yet in Phase 2, as a new online publication makes its debut. The redesigned MyUTSW homepage provides a showcase for Center Times Plus, the digital companion to Center Times, UT Southwestern’s campus newspaper.

Things will look quite different, so we wanted to give you a few tips on how to get around as you click through and familiarize yourself with the new website.

MyUTSW homepage

  1. At the top of the page, you’ll see a carousel with a familiar title – Campus Update. This spot will be where you’ll find all of your need-to-know announcements and deadlines – from annual enrollment and parking registration to promotion of key events and policy updates.
  1. As on the current MyUTSW homepage, the “Campus Update” story carousel will automatically rotate through several stories, to ensure that you’re up-to-date with the latest important news.
  1. Want to see the announcements you might have missed? Click on “See all stories,” and you’ll land on Campus Update’s new archive page that will catalog these articles going forward. If you’re looking for intranet stories that predate the new site, you’ll still be able to find them via the search field at the top of the home page.

What is Center Times Plus?

If you’re familiar with the print version of Center Times, UTSW’s campus newspaper, think of Center Times Plus as its supercharged digital companion. You can access it in a few different ways: if you’ve already bookmarked the MyUTSW homepage (utsouthwestern.net), you’ll see CT+ beneath the Campus Update carousel, with its prominent new logo.

After the site launches, you can also bookmark the new CT+ landing page, by clicking to it right off of the MyUTSW homepage.

Among the features of Center Times Plus:

  • Dedicated landing pages for news about each of UT Southwestern’s core functions: Research, Patient Care, and Education, which will allow you to select news and information based on your interest
  • A section called Life@UTSW, an extension of the weekly e-newsletter, featuring stories about campus life and the people who make the institution tick
  • Videos, photo galleries, and other interactive content
  • Honors & Awards, and Alumni news
  • An events calendar
  • Social widgets (each discipline gets a distinctive UTSW social media presence)
  • An archive of stories that populate the current month’s print issue of Center Times
  • Links to recent stories in the media about UT Southwestern

We encourage you to take a spin around the new site. We hope you like what you see, and we welcome your feedback.
