Dr. Bruce Carr
Dr. Bruce Carr, professor of obstetrics and gynecology, was recently named chief of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
"He's nationally and internationally recognized as an authority," said Dr. Norman Gant, the organization's executive director. "In addition, Dr. Carr has trained excellent medical researchers who are at medical centers in this country and around the world. He was a natural choice."
His appointment includes serving on the organization's board of directors.
"It's quite an honor to be elected by other people on the board, because it carries a lot of responsibility," said Dr. Carr, holder of the Paul C. MacDonald Distinguished Chair in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Another UT Southwestern faculty member, Dr. George Wendel Jr., professor of obstetrics and gynecology, also sits on the board in the position as chief of the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Division. He holds the Alvin "Bud" Brekken Professorship in Obstetrics and Gynecology at UT Southwestern.
