This week on Health Watch, we’re talking about how you can get in shape for summer swimsuit season. Previously, we offered some diet tips. But don’t let weekends undo all your good work during the week.
Bernadette Latson, a registered dietitian at UT Southwestern Medical Center, says it’s not bad to allow yourself the occasional weekend treat as a reward. The problem comes when you start the weekend treats with lunch on Friday. Then you’re treating three days as the weekends, and that’s nearly half the week. Instead of turning the whole weekend into a celebration and escape from your diet, pick one weekend meal for indulging. Then find other ways of enjoying yourself. Cooking a nutritious meal at home is a good way to socialize with friends and family without wrecking your diet.
