Website provides evolving view of a hospital coming to life
As UT Southwestern Medical Center prepares to open the William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital in late 2014, a new website provides visitors – in words and images – a dynamic look at the facility as it continues to take shape.
The website, at utswmedicine.org/clements, illustrates how UT Southwestern is bringing together innovative hospital design, state-of-the-art technology, and industry best practices to create an environment that seamlessly integrates exemplary patient care with leading-edge research and medical education – the hallmarks of a world-class academic medical center.
“The message we want to convey on the website – and in all our communications – is that the hospital has been designed first and foremost for our patients and their families, and we have used feedback from them to inform all of our decisions,” said Dr. John Warner, CEO of UT Southwestern University Hospitals.
“Every aspect of the hospital was carefully considered, and its design was influenced by site visits to the nation’s top hospitals, known for providing the highest standards of patient care; ideas from our own physicians and staff; and of course, input from our patients. The website showcases the innovative and patient-focused features that we consider the hallmark of our new hospital. It also illustrates, in a very dynamic way, that everything we’ve done has been guided by our commitment to provide patients with the best possible care and to give patients and their families the best possible experience,” Dr. Warner added.
With hospital construction now more than 90 percent complete, the website offers current and prospective patients, their families, referring physicians, UT Southwestern faculty and staff, and the community a glimpse inside the new 12-floor, 460-room hospital, including:
A Look at the Hospital
The website’s home page provides a striking view of the hospital, with roll-over information about its features. The Overview, Highlights, and Floor Plan sections provide a more in-depth look, including the hospital’s role in supporting UT Southwestern’s three-part mission (to innovate, educate, and heal), the facility’s design (including how the hospital’s “W” shape promotes patient care), facts and figures, a view of patient rooms, a listing of specialty areas, a floor plan that shows departments and services, and much more.
An image gallery provides architectural renderings illustrating the outside and the inside of the hospital, along with videos and a live webcam tracking the ongoing progress on construction. Soon, photos will be available, providing a real-life look at what the hospital offers.
News and Media
This section provides stories about the hospital, including coverage in Center Times, which is providing an ongoing series, and other information.
A Frequently Asked Questions section provides answers to some of the most commonly asked questions.
This feature gives visitors an opportunity to join an electronic mailing list to receive regular updates about the new hospital, including progress reports on construction, news from UT Southwestern and media outlets, and a wide range of other information.
