University Hospitals recognized with patient-driven Women’s Choice Awards
WomenCertified, a research company that identifies businesses most trusted by women, has named both of UT Southwestern Medical Center’s University Hospitals as winners of its 2013 Women’s Choice Awards, based on patient satisfaction surveys.
Zale Lipshy University Hospital was rated one of “America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Patient Experience,” while St. Paul University Hospital made the lists of “Best Hospitals for Heart Care” and “Best Hospitals for Orthopedics.”
Referral services for UT Southwestern that are primarily based at St. Paul include cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, heart and lung transplantation, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopaedic surgery, and vascular surgery. Zale Lipshy’s faculty physicians provide diagnostic neurological services and treatments, including stroke patient care, as well as ophthalmology, oral surgery, psychiatry, and other services.
“We are committed to deliver patient-centered excellence in all our clinical areas and are delighted that we already have achieved recognition throughout our current clinical facilities that places us among the very best medical institutions nationally,” said Dr. John Warner, Vice President and CEO for UT Southwestern University Hospitals. “This report, generated by patients’ input, offers validation of the exceptional patient care received at UT Southwestern.
“Because we work to attract and retain the brightest minds in medicine and science today, patient care at UT Southwestern naturally benefits from being fully integrated with our research discoveries and the rigor associated with teaching the next generation of health care providers. Fulfilling all three of these missions – delivering clinical excellence, breakthrough biomedical research, and top-tier education – will continue seamlessly with the opening of the William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital next year.”
In 2012, the last reportable year, UT Southwestern’s University Hospitals & Clinics had more than 21,000 patients admitted, with nearly 740,000 patient visits in the facilities of Southwestern Medical District.
Businesses qualify for the Women’s Choice Award based on a nationwide survey of thousands of female customers who are asked to rate their experiences and how likely they are to recommend the business to others. The scores are then benchmarked against a satisfaction index developed in partnership with the Wharton School of Business.
