A two-year, ACGME-accredited fellowship in neurotology is available every other year through the Department of Otolaryngology. The neurotology fellow works closely with three board-certified neurotologists in treating diseases of the temporal bone and skull base.

Most of the operative experience is at Zale Lipshy University Hospital. In addition, the fellow will have opportunities at Parkland Memorial Hospital and Children’s Medical Center. The multiple locations provide the fellow with a broad experience in neurotology including management of CPA and temporal bone tumors, auditory brainstem implantation, temporal bone trauma, cochlear implantation, pediatric skull base tumors, aural atresia, and complications of chronic otitis media. The fellow also will be involved with Cyberknife and Gamma Knife radiosurgery.

In addition, a subspecialty curriculum provides the fellow with training in audiologic and vestibular testing, vestibular therapy, cochlear implant candidacy testing and mapping, adult and pediatric neuroradiology, neuropathology, and neuro-ophthalmology.

Finally, the fellow will be encouraged to be involved with research during the fellowship including an optional three-month research block during the second year. At least one peer-reviewed publication will be expected during the fellowship.
