AIRC investigators have a long history of developing 13C NMR methods for tracing intermediary metabolism in isolated organs and intact animals. Consequently the group has collected thousands of 13C NMR spectra of tissue extracts and compiled lists of chemical shifts of most common metabolites present in all mammalian tissues. Two tables have been created and have been sorted by compound name and by chemical shift value.
To the best of our knowledge these chemical shift values are accurate. However, because chemical shifts depend on pH, osmolality, and numerous other factors, these values should serve as guides, but should not be considered as standards.
