New app to enhance your safety on campus

To the UT Southwestern Community:

As part of our ongoing commitment to your safety, the UT Southwestern Police Department has launched an innovative new tool to quickly connect you with University Police.

Safety Connection is available through the Everbridge app at no cost to our employees, residents, fellows, and students, enabling them to add a new level of security to their working and learning hours.

The platform has several useful features that can link you to UTSW authorities through your smartphone – whether you’re on the main Dallas campus or at other UTSW locations across North Texas.

Key highlights include:

  • A virtual escort mode that provides officers constant updates as you navigate from one place to another and automatically sends help if you don’t respond.
  • one-touch SOS feature that allows you to transmit your GPS location to UTSW Police within seconds.
  • The ability to report suspicious activity to University Police in real time, so officers can respond at a moment’s notice.

For instructions on how to download and navigate Safety Connection, visit the University Police website on the UTSW intranet (network connection or VPN required). There, you’ll find a helpful video to walk you through the program’s features and teach you how to operate them.

We hope you find Safety Connection to be a useful resource, and we are eager to hear your feedback. Please share your thoughts via UniversityPolice@utsouthwestern.edu.

Thank you for your help and cooperation in keeping UT Southwestern a safe place to work and learn.
