Power utility improvements on campus

Facilities will be making updates to the Inwood substation on May 12-14between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m, due to changes in the South Campus generator control wiring. The Inwood substation serves North and West Campus, including Clements University Hospital (CUH).

While we do not anticipate any disruptions due to these activities, there is the slight possibility of a power blink. Employees are encouraged to monitor any sensitive equipment.

Facilities will be performing tests at the new South Campus substation between 5 and 7 a.m. on May 6.

While we do not anticipate any disruptions due to these activities, there is the slight possibility of a power blink. Employees in all South Campus buildings are encouraged to monitor any sensitive equipment.

Facilities will be replacing the control power batteries for the Inwood substation control houses on April 27-29, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. The Inwood substation serves North and West Campus, including Clements University Hospital (CUH).

While we do not anticipate any disruptions due to these activities, there is the slight possibility of a power blink. Employees are encouraged to monitor any sensitive equipment.

Facilities will be switching electrical power to the Danciger (H) and Aston (U) Buildings to tie in the new Research Support Services Building (JB) on South Campus.

Ten-second power outages will occur to the H and U buildings, between 5 and 7 a.m., on the following days:

  • Tuesday, April 28
  • Tuesday, May 5
  • Tuesday, May 19

Please make arrangements as necessary to protect and monitor power sensitive equipment. Information Resources will have personnel available during each of the power outages to help with any computer issues.

Also, on Tuesday, May 5, between 5 and 7 a.m., facilities will return the 15 kV electrical switchgear in the L Building back to normal dual feed configuration. A blink of up to 10 seconds will result in the B, C, E, and L Buildings on South Campus. Employees in these buildings are encouraged to monitor any sensitive equipment.
